Dr. Leathers was born and raised in Seattle Washington with 8 siblings. After high school he joined the ARMY and later completed his undergraduate degree in Louisiana and medical education in Pennsylvania. During his ARMY career he served as a Field Artillery Surveyor. He was stationed in Oklahoma, Germany and Louisiana.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University, MD degree from Ross University School of Medicine, and a Psychiatric Residency Training Degree from Allegheny General Hospital, Drexel University School of Medicine, Pittsburgh, PA.
During his psychiatric residency training he held the position of Chief Resident. During residency he was trained to provide psychotherapy, psychoanalytic psychotherapy and medication management for adults.
He has worked for the Los Angeles County Department of Mental health and Orange County Adult Mental Health Services. In addition to concierge psychiatry he also works as a correctional forensic psychiatrist for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a member of the California Psychiatric Association, member of the Orange County Psychiatric Society and a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain.
Dr. Leathers’ Mission is to provide therapeutic treatment with the use of psychotherapy and/or medication management, by listening, learning and working together with his clients to individualized treatment according to a person’s need, symptom profile, diagnosis, past treatment history and other pertinent bio-psycho-social factors.
